WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

Deep Tissue Massage in Dubai

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique that uses sustained, firm pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia — the connective tissue surrounding your muscles. Unlike a relaxation massage, deep tissue work targets chronic tension patterns that build up from stress, poor posture, repetitive movement, or injury.

At SaltZen Spa, our deep tissue massage is performed by therapists trained in the bodywork traditions of Bali and Thailand. They combine slow, deliberate strokes with targeted pressure on trigger points — areas where muscle fibres have tightened into knots. The goal is not just temporary relief but a lasting release of tension that restores your body’s natural alignment and movement.

Every deep tissue session at SaltZen takes place in one of our active halotherapy rooms. While your therapist works on your muscles, therapeutic salt microparticles circulate in the air, supporting your respiratory health and creating an additional layer of healing that you won’t find at any other spa in Dubai.

Common Questions

Deep Tissue Massage - FAQ

Is deep tissue massage painful?
Deep tissue massage involves firm pressure, so you may feel some discomfort during the session — especially on tight or knotted areas. However, our therapists continuously check your comfort level and adjust pressure accordingly. Some mild soreness for 24–48 hours after the session is normal and indicates the deeper layers of muscle were effectively treated.
A regular relaxation massage (like Swedish) uses lighter, flowing strokes to promote general relaxation. Deep tissue massage uses slower, more deliberate pressure to reach the deeper muscle layers and fascia. It is specifically designed to treat chronic pain, muscle knots, and tension — not just provide surface-level relaxation.
For chronic pain or tension, we recommend once a week for the first 4–6 weeks, then transitioning to every 2–4 weeks for maintenance. For general wellness, once or twice a month is ideal. Your therapist will recommend a schedule based on your body’s needs after your first session.
Deep tissue massage is not recommended during pregnancy due to the intensity of pressure involved. We offer a dedicated Prenatal Massage that is specifically designed for expectant mothers — safe, gentle, and nurturing.
Hydrate well before your appointment. Avoid heavy meals for at least 1 hour before your session. Arrive 10 minutes early so you can settle in and communicate your specific concerns to your therapist before the session begins.
Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins released during the session. Avoid intense exercise for 24 hours. Some mild muscle soreness is normal — it typically fades within 1–2 days. Gentle stretching and a warm bath can help.
